4 Hiking Trails Near Tellico Lake
1. Hall Bend Trail
A moderate 5-mile loop trail located in Lenoir City, the Hall Bend Trail is one of the best trails in the area. It can be found at the north end of the Tellico Village and follows the banks of Tellico Lake for part of it before climbing up to some steep hills.
The scenery is stunning, with excellent views of Tellico Lake and the Smoky Mountains. If you’re lucky, you might even see some wildlife that call this lush environment home.
Hall Bend Trail is a popular trail among dog owners, so if you are afraid of dogs, this trail may not be for you.
2. Baker Hollow Branch
This 6.5-mile trail is also located in Lenoir City and is one of the trails that make up the 30-mile East Lakeshore Trail. It’s your go-to trail if you love quiet, scenic hikes in nature. That’s because the Baker Hollow Branch is lightly trafficked and meanders along the lake.
You don’t have to worry about getting lost as the trail is very well-marked and easy to follow.
3. Davis Ferry Branch
Another trail that makes up the East Lakeshore Trail is the Davis Ferry Branch. It’s about 7.20-miles long and extends southward for approximately one mile paralleling Antioch Church Road. It then passes through a small section of the WindRiver Golf Course.
Ensure to remain on the trail and be courteous to golfers since this is private land. Also, watch out for an errant shot while there. Safety first!
If you’re a beginner, this trail is for you. It’s a scenic and straightforward hike that ends at the Glendale Trailhead, meeting the Glendale Branch. You will also find plenty of geocaches on this trail. Having them on the trail will surely add some fun to your hike.
4. Wildcat Pointe Walking Trails
Wildcat Pointe Walking Trails is just under 4-miles and located near Greenback. There’s a parking lot located right off the road, so access is easy.
The start of the trail is a little harder, but not too bad. I’m sure those in better shape will find it an easy hike.
You’ll love this scenic trail as it takes you through the forest and has beautiful views of the Little Tennessee River. The overlook view is perfect for a quick break with a bench to sit on and eat some snacks. It’s also a good spot for birdwatching or capturing stunning nature photographs.
