October 2024, something really special went down at WindRiver. A group of 200-plus folks showed up to watch the official groundbreaking for the new clubhouse. And let me put it to you this way: this isn’t any ordinary community center renovation we’re talking about. We’re talking 25,000 square feet of brand-new facilities. That’ll turn the whole game on its head when they open next summer. In fact, this whole project marks the arrival of Windriver’s New Club House, a true milestone for the community.
Why on Earth Did We Need A New Clubhouse?
WindRiver already has a ton going for it. The place has a smokin’ location right on Tellico Lake. There’s also a super challenging Bob Cupp-designed golf course. Plus, those views of the Smoky Mountain foothills are stunning. But the thing is: the community’s been growing. So, it was high time for a social hub that really lived up to what WindRiver is all about. The New Club House at Windriver is designed to meet this very need for a bigger, more dynamic social center.
So, they decided to go all out big time.
They Threw the Book at It
WindRiver didn’t mess around when it came time to pick the team to design and build this place. In fact, they went with some of the big names in the business: Kuo Diedrich Chiforn architecture, Johnson & Galyon Construction for the build, Wood and Partners for landscape work, and Blount Design Group to ensure the inside matches the outside. When it comes to the New Club House at Windriver, only the best teams are involved.
The whole design is built around one simple idea: don’t get in the way of the view. From the dining rooms to the bars to that rooftop terrace, every single bit of it is set up so you can still see the lake and the mountains outside. And honestly, if you’re going to build something new at WindRiver, you’d better make sure people can still enjoy what makes the place so special in the first place.
What We Can Expect on the Inside
What can you expect to find inside this new place when it opens up this summer? Plenty, as it turns out. Among the highlights will be the New Clubhouse at Windriver, which will offer cutting-edge amenities.
First off, there’s a wellness center that’s going to make your average gym look like a tiny little shack. We’re talking proper spa facilities, group fitness studios, and even proper locker rooms. Yeah, those things are a bigger deal than you’d think if you’ve ever had to squeeze into a cramped gym locker.
The dining situation is getting a major overhaul, too. Multiple restaurants and bars are on tap, so whether you want to grab a quick bite after golf or you’re looking for a place to celebrate something special, you’ve got options.
The golf nuts amongst you will be stoked about the new pro shop, and there’s even a “party barn” that’s exactly what it sounds like: a rustic space for hosting events and celebrations. Because, let’s face it: sometimes you want a Tennessee barn vibe for your shindig, especially ’round these parts.
It’s All Part of Something Bigger
Now here’s the thing: this clubhouse is just the first phase. The whole project is called “Clubhouse Village,” and it will take over the general area around the Pro Shop near the golf course and driving range. By 2026, you’ll have all sorts of social spaces. There will be different places to grab food and drinks. Plus, there will be more fitness areas and lounges for members. Basically, it’s going to be the community’s own little hub. At the heart of Clubhouse Village will be the New Clubhouse, giving Windriver a central gathering point for years to come.
They’re doing it in phases so they can get it right, but also so people can start using bits of it as soon as they’re ready. Smart thinking if you ask me.
What’s Already Available
To give you a sense of what’s been happening, WindRiver already has a lot going on even before this new clubhouse opens up. There’s a marina right on Tellico Lake, Citico’s Restaurant (which has gotten some great reviews), a nice pool and sports complex, trails for walking and biking, and Brightwater Park. This six-acre waterfront spot is perfect for just hanging out—even before the New Club House at Windriver is complete.
And the community calendar stays pretty slammed with all sorts of events: pickleball tournaments, golf events, fitness classes, and seasonal celebrations. There’s always something to get excited about. Meanwhile, the new clubhouse is just going to give everyone even more reasons to get together.
Why This Really Matters
The WindRiver team really nailed it when they said the clubhouse is a major investment in the community’s future. It’s going to be the place where people gather, where you run into your neighbors, where memories get made. That’s really what it’s all about. With the New Club House Windriver brings in, these community connections will only deepen.
You can build all sorts of pretty houses and golf courses, but what makes a place feel like home is having a spot where everyone can come together—that’s what theyre building here.
